London BioScience Innovation Centre, Camden

In September 2000, Wheelers were first appointed as Cost Consultants for the new London BioScience Innovation Centre located at the Royal Veterinary College, Camden, the first such purpose built facility for London. This was to be built to a flexible design in phases, with the ability to respond to demand for suited incubator facilities for startup biomedical companies.
With the assistance of the London Development Agency, phases 1, 1A and 2 were completed and occupied by tenants, these being refurbishment and alteration projects based in unused areas of the Royal Veterinary College’s Camden campus buildings. Phase 3, a new building containing further state of the art laboratories, IT areas, offices and interaction areas was funded independently . Project work for incoming tenants continued post-completion and included options for the construction of clean rooms to ISO grades 5 and 7, integrated services and support infrastructure.
Wheelers were closely involved with the total cost management of this multi-phase development of existing premises and new buildings from inception.
